Short Entries

Many submissions were too short for their own post, but still of interest. When posted one after another they are even more fascinating in their consistency. These are nippy pieces of evidence, pockets of proof from across Bath. We hope they demonstrate that if you have a story, even a small one get in touch.

1) Hi there, Saw your project, and thought I would let you know about my visions. They only happen during torrential rain. This woman walks through the streets of Bath. She always smiles, always wears the same dress.

My friend and I always thought it was a ghost, but then we saw your advert! I don't feel threatened or creeped out by her, and it's quite nice to have something like that wandering around. Feels like someone is keeping an eye on us!

:)

2) I can't believe this is regarded  as weird. I have lived in Bath all my life, and loads of people know about her. You'll often see her near the canal. Why would a young woman in smart clothes be pottering around near there?I'm guessing this has cropped up because Bath has had such an influx of new residents. We are in an ancient town.

Read some history books.

3) Like your post last month, I used to walk across the bridge near Sainsbury’s all the time early in the morning as part of my commute. We’re talking five thirty, six am. Plenty of mornings where I was the only one around.

I saw a lady there all the time. She was kind of pretty, with this long brown hair, and brown eyes.  Hope my clear description doesn’t make me sound too creepy. She was memorable. Anyway, what was weird is that she always wore a dress, even in crappy weather.  And I never worked out where she was going. Most people at that time are hurrying off to work, not posing on a bridge.

When I saw this project  I thought of her straight away. The descriptions are bang on.  Must be the same person. Maybe there's a woman who likes to walk around Bath in the early mornings, did you ever think of that?

I’ll keep reading anyway!

4) Here’s a story for you. Might not be relevant, but feel free to whack it up if you want. In our garden is a concrete path. The surface isn’t level, and one of the larger dips turns into a puddle when it rains. My son loved it. Called the indentation the ‘puddle pond.’ When he played in the garden by himself after the downpour,  he said he saw ‘a lady in the puddle pond.’

It became a running joke, and sometimes he would wave, or even say hello.I had almost forgotten about this until I saw your advert. My son is at university now. In the recent storms I searched for the ‘Lady in the puddle pond.' Nothing so far.

5) Hi there,

I haven’t seen Sulis in real life. But I sure have seen a lot of her in my dreams.

I remember vivid snapshots. Walking alone in the streets of Bath, with a gentle rain falling. The streets are free from anyone else, except a woman walking towards me.

I try to get close enough to say hello, but by the time I get there, she’s gone. But it is calm and inevitable, like when an aeroplane flies into the clouds.I must have this dream about once a month. Ever since I moved to Bath. Thanks.
